Dear Mayor Dunn,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in learning history including public policy.  In these subjects, I like to learn the importance of making Civil Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment, and improve public safety.  Mayor Dunn, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as current Mayor of Leawood, Kansas and your activism on helping the community to be very inspiring to me.

In your current role as Mayor of Leawood, Kansas I really like on how you are a continuous supporter of Civil Rights by advocating for people with disabilities’ rights, supporting funds to help minorities including women businesses to help them compete in the economy, and expressing the need to combat against discrimination to help protect women, minorities, and people with disabilities.   On the environment, I like on how you push for funds to help clean parks including water resources to make them safe for people to use while reduce pollution and work on improving city services to help reduce littering.   To improve education, I liked on how you support funding special education to help students with disabilities get educational resources they need, expand on arts including diversity programs to make education diverse in learning, and push for after school programs to help youth get help on their assignments.  Expanding job-training programs to help youth including workers to develop job-skills to help them prepare for the workforce and provide tax-credit to small businesses to help them be part of the community along with help assist residents on getting the products they need are great ways to improve the economy.  Another thing that I like about your role as Mayor of Leawood, Kansas is how you are working to expand construction to help re-fix roads including sidewalks to make them safe for people to use, hire police officers to help patrol the streets to reduce crime, and work with health care services to improve care for patients including seniors with services. Besides your work as Mayor of Leawood, I really appreciate on how you and Mr. Terry Dunn are very active in helping the community by donating money to health care organizations including hospitals to help expand on research to combat against diseases and working with colleges including schools to raise money to help repair them to make schools safe for children or college students along with provide educational resources to assist them on learning.

Mayor Dunn, I have autism with a learning disability.  Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased. Your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights including people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability. Also I enjoyed reading “Leawood mayor takes unusual path to City Hall” on kctv5.com because I enjoyed learning about how you decided to run for mayor and your commitment to family.  Your role as Mayor  of Leawood Kansas and your activism in the community motivates me to continue my strong interest in learning history including public policy.  My future goal is to someday work in history or in public policy to help emphasize the importance of making Civil Rights stronger to reduce discrimination, protect the environment form pollution, and many others.

I strongly believe that you are making a great difference in your role as mayor and being active in helping to improve the community. I’m very proud on how you are working hard to make society a better place. You have inspired me to work hard on my disability, read an article about you running for mayor, and continue to be motivated to learn history including public policy.  I was wondering if you could please share with me what it is like being Mayor of Leawood, Kansas and  some facts about Leawood. Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make a great impact on society, and inspiring me.  I wish you well to continue to make a great difference .
