Dear Mayor Hicks-Hudson,

My name is Matt Winick from Ann Arbor, Michigan with a strong interest in learning history with public policy.  In these subjects, I like to learn the need for Civil Rights to be strong to reduce discrimination, protect the environment from pollution, improve public safety, and many others. Mayor Hicks-Hudson, the main reason I’m writing you a letter is to explain how I find your work as current Mayor of Toledo, Ohio to be very inspiring to me and share about how I enjoy my past visits to Toledo.

In your current role as Mayor of Toledo, Ohio, I like on how you are a strong supporter of protecting women, minorities, and people with disabilities from being discriminated in education and public places. Also on Civil Rights, I’m very proud on how you advocate for people with disabilities’ rights, support funds to help women including minorities businesses to help them compete in the economy,  work with minorities communities to find ways to reduce racial profiling,  push for laws  combat against people who commit hate-crime, and support the need for women to have equal pay.   Your approach on improving the economy like expanding job-training programs to help train youth including workers to develop job-skills to help be prepare them for the economy, encouraging businesses to hire people with disabilities, women, and minorities, working with University of Toledo to expand funds for research in different areas is common sense.  On public safety, I liked on how you are currently working on finding ways to fix potholes on street to make them safe for people to use transportation, implement training program to help train rescue responders, fire fighters, and law enforcement to be efficient on their job, and push  for community policing to help restore trust between communities with law enforcement.  Pushing for renewable energy sources to reduce oil with gas, expanding funds to clean parks with water resources to make them safe for people to use, and working with different industries along with states or cities around Lake Erie to keep it clean from pollution are great ways to protect the environment while reduce pollution.  Another thing that I like about your role as Mayor is how you work with other attractions in Toledo including museums to find ways to improve tourism while make a learning environment a better place.

Mayor Hicks-Hudson, I have Autism with a learning disability. Having a disability is hard for me because I have trouble comprehending on learning different subjects, sometimes I struggle to communicate my thoughts, and get teased.  Your commitment to be a strong supporter of Civil Rights and your advocacy for people with disabilities’ rights really inspires me to work hard on my disability.  In a few times I have visited Toledo, Ohio where I visited the Toledo Zoo and the Toledo Museum of Art. I enjoyed visiting these sites because it helped me understand more facts about animals along with the need to protect wildlife and learn about different artist’s perception on their artwork.  Also your task as Mayor of Toledo motivates me to continue my interest in learning history with public policy. My future goal is to some visit Toledo so I can see some more sites, to continue to learn history, and many others.  My letter is a gift to you for inspiring me and for Black History Month to help recognize African American individuals who work hard to make a great difference for society.

I believe that you are making a great difference in your current role as mayor. I’m proud on how you work hard to make Toledo, Ohio a better place.  You have inspired me to work hard on my disability, continue my interest in learning history, and visit Toledo.   Thanks for taking the time to read my letter, working hard to make society a better place, and inspiring me. I wish you well to continue your current role as Mayor of Toledo  and to continue to make a great impact on society.

Sincerely,

Matt Winick
